 Asthma

Australia has one of the highest rates of asthma sufferers in the world. Asthma-related illnesses are estimated to cost taxpayers $760 million a year. Each year there are around 800 related deaths.
60-90% of children and 50% of adult asthma sufferers are allergic asthmatics, meaning that their asthma attacks can be triggered by allergic reactions to pollen, dust, or dust mites.

These potent triggers accumulate, to the point where infestation occurs in almost every regularly used mattress.

This is why mattress cleaning, is such an important and unique service to offer.  Asthma attacks can be triggered by allergic reactions to pollen, dust, or dust mites.

In 1995 Asthma caused more than 1.8 million
emergency room visits.

Asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism due to chronic illness and the second most important respiratory condition to cause home confinement for adults. In many cases leading back to a potent cocktail of triggers which are found in an every day mattress, hence the worldwide need for mattress cleaning.

Each year, asthma causes more than 18 million days of restricted activity, and millions of visits to physicians' offices and emergency rooms. One study found that children with asthma lose an extra 10 million school days each year. This problem is compounded by an estimated $1 billion in lost productivity for their working parents. Asthma-related health care cost the US approximately $10.7 billion in 1994, including a direct health care cost of $6.1 billion. Indirect costs, such as lost work days, added up to $4.6 billion.

In Australia the direct health care cost is close to $1 billion

Exposure to dust mites through little or ineffective mattress cleaning within the first year of life, is associated with later development of Asthma. Pulmonary function test findings have shown that episodes improved with avoidance of environmental allergens. Mite and cockroach antigens are common, and exposure and sensitization has been shown to increase asthma morbidity. Removing even one of many allergens can result in clinical improvement and this begins with a regular schedule of mattress cleaning.

Without regular mattress cleaning, any mattress or indoor space occupied by humans on a regular basis will contain skin cells, moisture and as a result, dust mites. Classified as the second most potent allergen to pollen, they are knows to cause or aggravate allergy, Asthma, itchy or red eyes, blocked nose, respiratory weakness, bad sleep, coughing, skin irritation eczema, hay fever, bronchitis, inflammation of the mucous membranes, headaches, sinus pain, fatigue or early morning fits of excessive sneezing. Mattress Cleaning must be practised using specialised equipment, and never including a moisture based treatment.
